Product Engineering Remote Full-time
Software Engineer, Privacy & Consent
Build and maintain user-facing privacy and consent experiences across Lokker products. You will debug complex product and integration issues, trace data flows across product surfaces, and translate privacy requirements into clear product behavior and engineering implementations.
What you will do
- Build and improve user-facing privacy and consent experiences across Lokker products
- Implement consent banners, preference centers, opt-in and opt-out flows, and user privacy controls
- Debug engineering issues related to consent state, tracking behavior, scripts, tags, integrations, and user preference flows
- Investigate cases where user choices are not being correctly captured, stored, updated, propagated, or respected
- Work with frontend applications, APIs, browser behavior, analytics tools, third-party scripts, and consent-related integrations
- Trace data flows across product surfaces to understand how consent and user preferences affect collection, tracking, and downstream behavior
- Translate privacy requirements into clear product behavior, UI states, technical requirements, and engineering tasks
- Partner with product, design, legal, and engineering teams to make privacy experiences usable, accurate, and technically sound
- Identify and remediate consent, transparency, and tracking gaps across product experiences
What we are looking for
- Strong software engineering experience, ideally in frontend, product engineering, or full-stack development
- Ability to debug complex product and integration issues across UI, browser, API, and third-party systems
- Practical understanding of privacy concepts such as consent, cookies, tracking technologies, analytics, user preferences, and data collection flows
- Experience building or maintaining user-facing product features in production
- Comfort working with JavaScript, modern frontend frameworks, APIs, browser developer tools, scripts, pixels, tags, or analytics instrumentation
- Ability to translate legal, regulatory, or product requirements into concrete technical implementation
- Strong cross-functional communication skills with engineering, product, design, and legal stakeholders
- Good judgment in balancing technical feasibility, user experience, and privacy requirements
Nice to have
- Experience with consent management platforms
- Experience building consent banners, preference centers, privacy settings, or opt-in and opt-out flows
- Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, ePrivacy, or similar privacy frameworks
- Experience with tag management, analytics governance, tracking prevention, or third-party script management
- Prior work in privacy engineering, trust and safety, data governance, or product compliance
- Experience debugging data collection, consent propagation, or user preference issues across systems
Why this role
- Own a highly visible product surface that directly affects how users experience privacy
- Work on practical engineering problems at the intersection of frontend systems, product UX, data flows, and privacy
- Help define how Lokker builds reliable, user-friendly privacy controls
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams on business-critical product experiences
- Build systems that increase user trust and improve transparency across Lokker products
This is not a fit if
- Your background is primarily legal, policy, audit, or compliance work without hands-on software engineering experience
- You have worked around privacy programs but have not built, debugged, or shipped product features
- Your experience is limited to backend-only security or privacy work with little exposure to frontend behavior, product UX, browser behavior, or user controls
- You prefer advisory work over hands-on implementation, debugging, and product engineering
- You are not comfortable investigating technical issues across product surfaces, integrations, and data flows
