Consent category to tag mapping errors
Tealium iQ maps consent categories to tag load rules. If the category mapping is incorrect, a tag may fire in a consent state it should not, or fail to fire in a state where it is expected.
Tealium iQ is an enterprise tag management system with built-in consent management support through its Consent Manager module. The combination of tag management and consent management in one platform is powerful, but it also means that a single misconfiguration can affect both layers simultaneously. Lokker validates the outcome at the network layer.
Tag Management
Tealium iQ is an enterprise tag management system that provides tag deployment, consent management, data layer standardization, and visitor stitching for large-scale digital data collection operations.

Risk and failure modes
When tag management and consent management run in the same system, a configuration error can disable both protections simultaneously, often without any visible indicator to the site team.
Tealium iQ maps consent categories to tag load rules. If the category mapping is incorrect, a tag may fire in a consent state it should not, or fail to fire in a state where it is expected.
Tealium iQ uses profiles and environments for deployment. Tags published to a production environment without the same consent conditions as the development profile create a gap that testing in development would not catch.
Not all tags in a Tealium profile are covered by the Consent Manager module. Tags from vendors who have not implemented Tealium's consent consent API may fire outside the consent model.
Consent and configuration
Tealium iQ provides internal reporting on consent category assignments and tag mappings. External network-layer validation is needed to confirm that the reported configuration matches what browsers send to third parties.
Each vendor tag in the Tealium profile needs to be validated in the reject state to confirm it stops loading, not just that it is assigned to a consent category.
Tealium DataLayer events that carry consent signals need to be tested across page types where tag firing conditions may differ.
GPC handling through Tealium iQ needs to be tested as a separate consent path from the standard opt-out flow.
Regional compliance
Enterprise organizations using Tealium iQ across multiple markets often manage separate profiles or environment variables for each region. Each regional configuration needs to be tested independently, because a rule that works correctly in one profile may not have been replicated correctly to another.
How Lokker helps
Lokker scans the network layer across each consent state, independent of what the Tealium iQ workspace shows, giving teams factual evidence of what tags fire and when.
Privacy Edge scans Tealium-managed pages and reports every outbound request, including tags that may operate outside the Consent Manager module mapping.
Explore Privacy EdgeConsent Validator tests each consent state on live pages and maps which Tealium-managed tags fire in each, with clear P1-P3 priorities for the most material gaps.

Next step
Lokker runs automated browser-level consent flows and scans the network layer to confirm whether Tealium iQ fires in states where it should not.
